As some of you may know I have psoriasis and psoratic arthritis. Being relaxed and calm is sometimes harder to do when your body aches from head to toe. What I have found works for me is a great bed, pillow and certain essential oils.
To begin calming my mind and body I soak in a bath of lavender and epsom salts. I use about four drops of lavender in my bath water. While I am doing this, I use my diffuser and difuse lavender. Lavender is such a calming oil.
Once I have soaked, I put vetiver on my neck. Vetiver is also a calming oil. This works as a grounding oil for me.
After I am dressed and starting to calm from my busy day, I get my deep blue rub and put it on my neck, which is where my main pain comes from. I also rub it on my joints and lower back. This warming/cooling effect is perfect for my arthritis easing the pain.
Once I am ready for bed, which doesn’t take long, I climb into my TempurPedic and adjust the foot and head where it is elevated six to eight inches. With the head adjusted, it opens up my breathing passages so I breath better as well as taking pressure off of my neck and joints. With my feet elevated it takes the pressure off of my lower back.
I chose a side sleeper pillow that is for back and side sleepers because it gives my neck the support it needs. 20% of your spine is supported by your neck.
In the evenings, I am careful to keep the house dimly lit to help keep my brain calm.
This routine has worked for me.
